Like AnyJewelry said, you can sell stuff here as long as you put it in the "Sell" forum. You can also (like I did) put a link to your ebay or etsy store/listings in your signature line which will show up every time you post.

To change your signature, click on your username at the top right of the page next to where it says "inbox". You will get a drop down menu; click on "Signature" on that drop down menu. It will open a dialogue box which you can put your store name or a link to your listings.

If you need more help on that or don't understand my instructions, just ask. Lotsa help around these parts. :)

Let me know if this isn't the correct place to ask for your opinions about selling on Etsy. I looked at your shop and you have beautiful jewelry and photos. I opened an Etsy shop about 3 years ago, but haven't done anything with it mainly because I'm selling on ebay and I got the impression that if I sold on Etsy (1) I'd have to do a lot of cross-promotion on other sites such as FB, Twitter, etc., (I only cross promote my ebay items on Pinterest), (2) I'd have to do a lot of communicating/negotiating with customers, potential customers, and get involved with the Etsy community, (3) it would take a long time to gain Etsy followers, and (4) it would take a lot longer for things to sell (most of my ebay items sell in 10-day auctions).

However, on ebay there's such a glut of fake-vintage clothing/accessories/jewelry that many of the authentic items don't get the prices they used to, so I'm wondering if it would be worth giving Etsy a try, considering I don't want to spend a lot of time communicating with buyers or the Etsy community, and don't want to have to cross-promote on a lot of other sites.

In your experience, do Etsy customers want to negotiate prices and/or ask a lot of questions? Do you feel the need to get involved with the Etsy community? Do you cross promote on FB, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest?

Thank you for the compliment, Joan.
Most people just buy. Some people want to negotiate, it is up to you what you do with that, don't feel pressured. And a few ask a lot of questions.
I am not involved with the Etsy community, and I don't cross promote on on FB, Twitter and Instagram. My husband occasionally puts something on Pinterest, usually kerises, rarely jewellery. Others have put our jewellery on Pinterest, which we are very grateful for.
I find that most people visit our shop because they are looking for something specific, they often say they trust Etsy more than ebay. Maybe that's just the look of Etsy, more like an online shopping centre than an online marketplace.

Thank you, Any Jewelry, for your quick and helpful response. I'm not surprised to hear that people say they trust Etsy more than ebay, although ebay overall has been a positive experience for me, but I think this will be the year I give Etsy a try also. Thank you again!

Thank you. I read the daily Antiquers Updates and am always amazed at the wealth of knowledge that's shared here. I just wish I could come up with a system for saving, indexing, categorizing key terms and information that I'll wish I had at my finger tips some day when I want to use this site's great search function.
