    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Hola, welcome!
    I'm a temporary Ohio transplant.
I have an old Dublin, Ohio pitcher that I bought for 50 cents at a yard sale last week. This site has infused me with a passion for this stuff. I use the pitcher for holding my artificial sweeteners... cute... isn't it?

I like your little pitcher. I collect pitchers and really like that shape. But, I am having some eye problems and cannot read the logo on the bottom. What does it say? Just curious, why are you calling it a Dublin, Ohio pitcher?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Hi again!
It says "Warranted" and then what looks like "D.E.McN. and Co.", and finally, "Liverpool". The logo is a shield flanked by lions or maybe griffins, and topped by wings. I've been meaning to do some Googling on it...
That*IS* Dublin, Ohio, right? Wasn't that area kind of the pottery Casbah way back when?
    Thanks for looking!

Correction - East Liverpool, Ohio. McNicol was there from 1892 to about 1920 and then moved to West Virginia. (Source, Lehner's Encyclopedia of US marks.)

They show lots of marks for McNicol, but not this one specifically.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

That is so cool to know, Abuelita!!!!! Worth 50 cents, for sure, then! To me... for holding my sweeteners. I stop at every yard sale I see, now. My ol' man is like "what are you looking for?" I say "I don't know until I see it." Boy can he roll his eyes... and he says *I'm* a drama queen.

"I'll know it when I see it." My favorite reply to yard sale sellers when they descend on "the new arrival."

Thanks for making it possible for me to see it. I don't know about ceramics made in Dublin, Ohio, but E. Liverpool and many other towns along the Ohio River were ceramic centers. That doesn't even include Zanesville and Roseville and Crooksville, Ohio.

You would really enjoy going to southern Ohio to visit the pottery museum between Crooksville and Roseville, Ohio and the ceramics museum in East Liverpool, Ohio.

Yeah I'll have to check it out one of these days. My parents also collect art pottery so maybe it will be a family trip.
