Hi and welcome! Glad Terry knew what this was! The way it looks on the bottom reminds me of those crafter paint your own ceramics.

 

Ok, now...what is it for? Setting your teabag on to drip into the cup? It looks like those examples of Terry's are on mini pitchers so for straining something when pouring? Warming a muffin? Keeping birds out?(ok that one was of Gila)

 

How odd! Does anyone know if it works? Does the bacon turn out crispy?
