I need a pal at a local Refinery-Indiana Jones score ! We do see some spectacular (almost supernaturally lucky ) finds.
-only way cheaper is to have inherited them.

Yeah, inherited them, that's free. However, my parents will only leave me an apartment worth 1 million. No any other valuable stuffs.

Basically, they melt down everything they get. They don't have enough knowledge, information, time to do research on them. In addition, most of them don't have clients or whole sellers to buy from them. Even I can find a tiffany chrysanthemum tea set from them, how much will I pay for that and how much they can sell to me if I don't have some relationship with their partner? They will not sell (with 20% marked up price) because this will take
Really? Is it silverplated not sterling silver?

I believe it's neither silverplated nor sterling. Forgive me to the experts if I mess something up here:

First thing we should clear up, this is a mark for swedish silverplate:

This is a Swedish National control mark; my understanding is this indicates at least 830 fineness?

I also believe that if an item is swedish sterling, it will have this:

So since the "S" isn't there, but the National Control mark is, I would conclude purity between 830 and sterling; I leave it to the true experts on the forum to confirm if I just said rubbish or not....

Thank you both guys for your research and reply. This cake stand is really confusing. I also doubt that if this stand could be an imported piece, which is why it didn't carry a "S" mark? Thanks.

I found this, looks like the 'S' mark was introduced in 1912/13. I'm hoping that means they are at least 830:)
