Persian script is Arabic with some modifications. We wouldn't notice those modifications. So no, not Persian.

 

good point about the hardware. I was only thinking of the body itself when the FC thought came to mind. I guess if someone wanted to make an FC lamp look like an antique Chinese vase turned into a lamp they could add older hardware. Not that this is what happened but it’s possible I guess.

 

And it doesn't have a cloth shade?

At this point I'd be surprised if an original cloth shade was still viable. At lot of them fall victim to dry rot or silk shatter.

 

It's not the cloth that matters; it's the frame. The frame can (and should) be recovered to maintain a lamp's design integrity IMHO. And shades, shattered or not, are enormously helpful for dating.

Too true. It does however mean finding someone who can recover a shade if you can't do it yourself, unless you're just keeping it for dating purposes.
