Featured Need help identifying my chair

Posted in reference to the above. I see people trying to sell similar chairs for big money but not many are getting it. While the three I posted are not identical to yours, they bear similarities. These are the kinds of values I am seeing in my neck of the woods as well. Just not a lot of interest in them these days. Also, if I could sell anything using your valuation method of cost adjusted for inflation, I would be a rich man. Value is determined by the marketplace and the marketplace does not value most antique furniture right now.

Thanks for that. I don't necessarily mean to be argumentative either. I just have been in the antiques business a long time and know the marketplace pretty well. You have a nice chair that not many years ago would have been worth quite a bit more. I don't know where you are located but value really is dependent on location and selling venue. Things I couldn't even give away in my semi-rural Midwest location go for hundreds of dollars in upscale shops in California and New York. Most antique furniture is down right now across the board but there is still fluctuation in value based on the above parameters.

 

I can admit when I'm wrong and say sorry lol. I live in Alabama. The chair went up in a local auction. In that auction the chair was in bad shape. I was told it got as high 450.00 but the seller didn't take the offer. It was brought back to auction 3 months later and I was the highest bidder at 220.00. I had it restored and had placed in my day spa. I've gotten several offers for it but am not interested in selling it but was curious of its possible value.
