If you look at where you said the pelts are patched together, find one, mark it thru to other side (pins) look for the fine ends of each hair and thicker where I think you will find cuts making the long natural fur shorter. Second if you find a seam where sewn tug a bit, if the seams easily come apart and the fur rips, then both are dry rotted. If the seam comes apart and not the fur, then the seam is shot and on the low end you are looking at $600-1,000 to repair. Dont put it in plastic or this could happen in no time in a heated house.
