Just a question to the experts, that I am not. Is script writing done on stone carvings and if so the picture above would appear to have been done with an electrical device.

That one looks to me like some kind of real stone, unlike OP’s. This latest-posted one doesn’t seem to have gas bubbles, wet-looking spots, and other non-stone-like features that bother me on OP’s object.

 

I like him and I see stone - but I'd question the craftsmanship because the sculpture is done separately and glued to the base. The one on etsy is not great quality and the seller priced accordingly.

Of course, good to know what neck of the woods he came from, I'd probably not spend a quantity of time ($$) pricing him :/ -

I know he's not, but the waxy quality looks like a gris gris or voodoo doll

 

Someone took the trouble to mark him with an engraving device - I wish my dear, departed Mother had thought to do that with the chess set my sister now has!

i'm cleaning it, and many spots went out, even 70% of the glue over the base, i'll redo the photos and send them you back ;-)
