    Oh, my, are we still talking about mugs?

    I just finished my 2nd cup of coffee out of this one:

    It was given to me at Christmas by someone concerned for the welfare of Joseph (shown in my avatar,) who admittedly has a bit of an addiction problem...

    Sorry for intruding on your thread, all of your mugs are beautiful....but that 3rd mug from the right ..... my grandmother who was on crutches much of her life took to oil painting and wood-burning...one end result.......she did many and they are all in the family....

    Aquitaine, that is absolutely lovely. It is beautifully done. I can imagine how pleased you must be to have some of her artistic endeavors (and to know where the others are).

    I believe those "drinking monks" were quite popular in their day (tho I've never been quite sure why!)

    I'm really late to this thread but wanted to say that all of the mugs are nice. I have a lot of modern coffee mugs so that I have a variety to choose from when drinking coffee. Now I'm thinking of buying older ones to put into the mix. Thanks for the idea!

    I'm on the other end of it. Most of my mugs are really really old and I'd never drink from them. I do like all the variety that has happened over the years. You can see changes in style, import/export changes, personal statement, souvenir, material popularity, a whole range of things.
