That sounds like a lovely way to make use of something that otherwise might have been thrown away eventually.

I save even the smallest scraps as you never know what they might come in useful for.
Yesterday I bought a Victorian velvet bag in a glorious magenta color, I bought it just to salvage the velvet and ribbon off it.
    I love doing that :)

Good idea. Sometimes all you need is a bit; crazy quilts are a case in point. If you get an old one needing a small patch, using modern fabric is all wrong. The wool ones are often in the worst case; moths like them just as much as we do.

I never got into quilting but I love to see them.
Years ago I bought a piece of a victorian one for 50p at a car boot fair, It's only about 3FT square but every so so often I look at it and the different fabrics in it and wish I had some large pieces of particular ones.

I buy bits of them whenever I find them, the complete quilts being well out of my price range. And for my sins, I do quilt, if not well.

I do have a victorian quilt, it came with certificate, it won a show but its fairly ordinary, I think the pattern is Granny's garden....or something like that.
Anyway it isn't backed, not sure it ever was so there are some interesting snippets on the papers inside it.

Possibly not. I've found many a quilt project that was begun and abandoned part way through in all stages of completion. Some I've finished off, some given away, and some sold on.

I love the way the Victorians recycled everything.
Young people today think recycling is a modern thing but not so.

Yes they do butt they were crapping and peeing their pants just yesterday. ;)
Recycling has been happening since forever.
The word goes back to the 30s I think. :)
I did some research when I had a system and was already recycling things to the local recycling center.
I was extorted by the county to HAVE to pay for recycling pick up.
If I didn't pay up they'd stop my garbage pick up!!!!
I raised holy hell and told them to jam it. I had 2.5 acres!

They think they invented upcycling too. My grandfather was doing that back in the dawn of time. All of my dad's toys during WWII were upcycled; Grandpa built toy railroad buildings out of cocoa tins, cigar boxes, etc and some paint.
