    Oh dear! That sounds like: Someone has ruined our masterpiece, now you're on your own.:eek:
    I would clean the verdigris off the bottom, a drop of oil on a cotton bud is probably enough. Leave the rest of the copper as it is, and gently clean the silver.
    I think it is still beautiful.
    Tell the owner that she has ruined it, but you will be glad to take it off her hands.:D

    If I had the piece........I would strip the patina off and clean well and reapply a new patina to my desired darkness,fairly easy to use Baldwin's patina. https://contenti.com/baldwin-s-patina

    Happy days are hear again...

    Paid for it yesterday, it is going to go in my hutch next to a gorgeous Loetz vase with silver overlay :D

    Thank you Hollyblue, I will look into Baldwin's.
