    Thank you for that -- I find the shield particularly interesting. Not because I know anything more, but because there's another beastie with the shield/belt/girdle.

    Oh really... I thought, on the first one, that the shield might be some kind of metal breast plate/cover, but I thought I might be misreading what I was seeing, it's very clearly double in the second... there must be a name for that, but if I knew it, I don't now.

    I'm glad that Cheryl found it. Parts of it were hilarious! As usual, I lose track of threads here in Antiquers and just caught up with this one.

    and an intaglio ring I wear most of the time has a pantheress associated with Dionysus on it, so think we can adopt gryphoness for the one that gives a whole new meaning to 'stock image'.
