By the way, I didn't mean to suggest there was any Egyptian influence in the design, there obviously isn't in this very European looking pendant.
I am just trying to find a winged woman with a lion head, and Sekhmet is one of those. I'm sure there are others, and probably closer to the pendant's origin.

The weirdest thing just happened. I was watching Amazing Interiors on Netflix, and in episode 9, I saw a table with decorative leg beasties that vaguely resembled yours.

Edit: Although, of course, they have arms. Do you think that the ones on your pendant are meant to be stylized griffins?

What immediately comes to mind is a Greek Sphinx, though usually depicted with a woman's head. I was able to find a couple examples of griffins with human breasts but the head was more bird-like.

    Thanks Brad.
I thought of Greek/Macedonian style Egyptian mythical beings as well. They have become so much part of European art. After all, the Ptolemaic dynasty (Cleopatra, etc) led not only to European influence in Egypt, but also Greco-Egyptian influence in Europe. The Greek sphinx is one of the examples.

In Europe that Ptolemaic influence was revived during the Renaissance, and later during the 19th century Austro-Hungarian Renaissance Revival.
Bohemian/Czech costume jewellery is a direct descendant of 19th century Austro-Hungarian jewellery styles.

Thank you for your patience -- still no cable, but it turns out my phone does not do such a bad job taking closeups. So here are more than you probably wanted...

On the subject of griffins -- it has been suggested to me. Possibly more than once. I have a tough time coming round to that because I can't find any that look like mine... or enough like mine.

I'm probably more likely to go with "made up beast never seen elsewhere because the original designer was on a bender during the design process." :p

Close-up back view shows that it's glass and not enamel - it really is a pretty piece.

Suspect that sometimes creatures that don't really have the proper characteristics end up being called 'gryphons' because it's a well-known term...
