Military CDV? Help Identifying War?

    I knew you'd straighten me out !!
    I kept finding the carbine model, with the short stock...now I see the musket model.....so yes 1884 , not 1863 !!!

    I defer to you in all things worth shooting................cept my EX mother in law !! :p..:mad:...

    I'd say that is most likely... and it seems to be corroborated by the ID of the rifles.

    What is the size of this, by the way? You mentioned CDV in the title. Is it actually the carte de visite size -- 2.5" x 4" ?

    It is, it's about 2.5 X 4" (inches) :)

    Ok -- so that is also something that might help to date it. There were very few American CDVs issued after the 1880s. I have found that European CDVs were issued into the 20th century.
