    I've seen plenty of Steiff critters minus their buttons, so it's done early and often.

    Being discovered to be a Steiff teddy is certainly a good way to “come back” from losing an arm!:smuggrin:

    Not much luck I’m afraid apart from they are sure he is German and possibly a Gerbruder Bing which could give you an avenue to research. They love him though!

    It is best to research Gebrüder Bing, without the added r.:)
    I know, an impossible language, just like Dutch.:rolleyes:

    Goodness! A quick google tells me that Gebrüder Bing went bankrupt in 1932, so he would be quite old in that case, and from a very interesting - if sad - place and time. Thank you so much for looking into it, if I can ever return the favour I shall! :bear::shame::shame:
