Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic are much better than some of the names people give there children. Igneous is best I think.

Unfortunately the Science museum's one has been removed so I needed an example of the label, although I think this version is 50+ years younger than mine. On better news these sorts of scales have risen in value over the past 7 years, many going for £1000's, the cheapest I've found are £800 but they aren't as good. BTW the wall is still standing

 

Wow. They are wonderful pieces of equipment, of course.

So glad to hear it. I'm sure it'll last centuries.

 

I don't know why I missed this thread when originally posted but reading through it was a treat, "hearing" some voices from the past.
