Featured Magnificent portraits - Need help

    This means that the original canvas has been attached to a full backing canvas. It is done when paintings need repair/and/or are quite fragile. It is a sign that someone once thought quite a bit about these paintings and wanted them conserved. If done correctly, it is fully reversible.

    You can bet this family had money to afford paintings like these. May make them easier to trace. As for my personal treasures, I am taking some with me. Into the box with me they go.

    See if you can track the provenance from the dealer. Often, it's a matter of privacy, but you might ask him to contact the seller to see if he can get information they are willing to share.

    at least it's worth a shot, to get some info on these paintings....specially at that price !
