There are not many flaws on either side, so I suppose either side will work. It is a heavy, substantial piece.</p><p><br /></p><p>The seller had actually machine washed the tablecloth!! <img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/frown.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=":(" unselectable="on" /> and I had to carefully iron it flat again. That could have caused the fraying. I'm sure there are some other areas that a photo would be helpful. I can take more is you think it will help. </p><p><br /></p><p>As for the age of the tablecloth, the lady I purchased it from was in her 60s and the tablecloth had been her mother's. She didn't seem to know much about it. </p><p><br /></p><p>For quite some time, I have been looking for a handmade point de venise tablecloth (actually white or off-white) I could afford.
