Yes, I always use Doty's site but I love to read so I want books too :bookworm: I wasn't sure if opalescent pieces fall into the category of carnival glass. Thanks for telling me ;)

Thanks for telling me. I didn't know that. I'll continue using Doty's site as first option.

Thank you so much Don! I'm always buying books because I love to read so probably my library will be large. Yesterday I bought the "Standard Encyclopedia of Opalescent Glass" by Edwards and Carwile. I got it "like new" for a good price on Thriftbooks.com. I already took note of the other books to get them ;)

Carnival glass is glass that had a chemical salt sprayed on it while it was hot and then was placed back in an oven to fix the iridescent finish.

Take a look at this site to explain opalescent glass, there is more than one kind.

To confuse the issue there are a few patterns that are opalescent glass that was given the carnival finish.

And yes, there are a lot of patterns that were made as both carnival and opalescent :)

Thanks for the link. I just read it!:bookworm: I thought that all opalescent glass was made with bone ashes... and I was wrong
