Thank you so much Don! I'm always buying books because I love to read so probably my library will be large. Yesterday I bought the "Standard Encyclopedia of Opalescent Glass" by Edwards and Carwile. I got it "like new" for a good price on Thriftbooks.com. I already took note of the other books to get them

 

Carnival glass is glass that had a chemical salt sprayed on it while it was hot and then was placed back in an oven to fix the iridescent finish.

To confuse the issue there are a few patterns that are opalescent glass that was given the carnival finish.

And yes, there are a lot of patterns that were made as both carnival and opalescent
