I don't see the extended heel use in the drawings you provide....:(

You're right-his drawing could be a little too detailed (and modern) for Hokusai.I should've looked at his sketch again, sorry abt that.Just looking for the simplest Hokusai's i could find-those are them so far,but his is actually fairly complex anatomically for a line drawing...I'm rushing my posts.

I really do appreciate everyone's input. This forum has skilled people which is wonderful. I still think if it had come from anyone other than a serious collector, (not multi-millions rich, but the family owned a store on 34th Street in Manhattan from 1912 until 1980) I would not think it genuine for a second. I watched a documentary on Hokusai and they said he was very prolific, something like 30,000 works are cataloged. So still unlikely that it was him, and how do you truly authenticate a simple sketch with no provenance anyway? I will see what the expert comes up with.

It is my experience that serious collectors from wealthy families , do indeed pick up items that they just like, which end up not being what they thought it was, or are used for hands on research , and are not of any great value.

Doesn't look like Hokusai at all to me. His brush work has. a strength and vitality to it that this one lacks. If you look at his woodblock prints and his manga series, you can see the difference. But I could be wrong of course.
