Same here, I get seizures from the stuff. They are prohibited here in the Netherlands.
I don't understand the attraction of tarnish either. An old piece will still look old when it is polished, because of the natural patina.

I never understand the whole obsession over tarnished brass and silver. I buy it, and I polish it, all the time, without question, and without regret.

    "You're removing the original finish!"

POLISHED UP IS THE ORIGINAL FINISH! That's why people BUY THIS STUFF!

Leave bronze be, but polish the silver. Just for the love of Pete, don't "dip" it!

NASTY stuff. It might be good for getting plated pieces down to the bare copper, but I wouldn't use it for anything else.

    Hi,
I only used it on silver blackened by fire and being buried for decades. The way to avoid mistakes is to IMMEDIATELY clean with a soft silver polish and I do mean CLEAN with a good polish. It will keep it from the "dreaded white" result. The same is with the aluminum foil and washing soda soak. It is two of the most damaging things to do with silver. Find a good soft polish and stick with it. With over 60 years of polishing silver I can attest to using a soft polish you do not need a foaming or any other type of cleaning polish.
