    It's not one of those, but I can see how it might be a chess piece maybe from a souvenir set

    Thanks Bev, I have seen them 'in person', they are gorgeous. Although I always found that the queen looks very worried, so I don't know what they've been up to all those centuries.;)

    Oooh! I want to see them. I read the book The Ivory Vikings by Nancy Marie Brown. I'm not sure I agree with her theories, but it's fascinating.

    I saw them in the British Museum. The first time I didn't have much time, but just had to see these little guys and the Sutton Hoo treasure. On later visits I had more time and could see more, the British Museum has a wonderful collection.
    London is not so far away when you visit Belgium again.
    The queen, on the left, worried or a toothache?
