    Hi,
From what I remember on rugs that green is a very valuable color and not normally found on older rugs.

Sorry, but I think some of the information about this rug may have gotten crossed. First, Caucasian rugs should have wool warp. It looks like a cotton and not wool warp on this rug- or at least that is how it looks to me from the pics provided. Second, this is very uniform and fixed pattern, which is not at all typical of older Caucasian rugs, but is typical of rugs handwoven in large factories such as one finds in China, Pakistan, India. Third, the pattern is unlike any Caucasian pattern I have ever seen (and I have a small collection of Caucasian rugs I've collected over the years), and the small floral pattern is much more persian design to me, though not necessarily made in Iran. I think it may be substantially newer than you were told. Attached is a photo of what a turn of the century Karabagh rug should be and a link to more:

I see what you mean - the pattern on one end does not match the pattern on the other. Thanks.

Nick is just a fellow member like the rest of us. We do not arrange deals, but if he knows any experts or collectors, he will let you know. His own interest is not in carpets, he just happens to be Caucasian (in the real sense).
But it seems there are several clues that the carpet needs to be researched a little more.

I just remembered, Nick said he was going on an antique buying holiday. So it could take longer for him to see the tag.
