The artwork was glued to a piece of black construction-type paper that only showed about 1/8" around the work. This, in-turn, was glued to the backing paper. I was able to remove the backing paper completely. In removing the black paper, some remained where it was glued across the top. I have shaved this down a bit with a razor blade so that is is fairly smooth. Not sure if I should do anything more with this or not. Ideas?</p><p><br /></p><p>The artwork itself is in reasonably good shape. There is some staining along the bottom. There are a few minor foxing spots. There is some overall toning as well. I am not versed in paper conservation so hate to tackle this on my own. I only paid $35.00 for this so doubt worth having professionally conserved.
