    i agree. so many intricate triptychs. some of them are literally breathtaking.

    Although he was convicted of treason, to call Charles I a traitor is a bit of an oxymoron as he was head of state until Oliver Cromwell, a parliamentarian deposed him at the end of the second civil war. The monarchy was then abolished for 11 years with Cromwell ultimately becoming Lord Protector of England until he died. Had Charles I won, you might well have had a tryptich of Oliver Cromwell; though bearing in mind the paintings of Cromwell it would have been considerably less fetching :). Very interesting and beautifully carved piece. You may not be able to sell it but you can always hand it down the family. :)
