Are you saying that because you found a similar pattern that you think mine is plated?

Did you read my initial post at all? I have no idea if your piece is silver or plated - those examples were posted only to show that the style is one of many produced in India...

I understand, and I was asking you for clarification. Did you see the post where I asked what country it was made in? I ask that as a rhetorical question, because I never asked anyone that question. I’m going to take a break from the forum; there seems to be some built up animosity pointed in my direction in your response, and for the life of me I don’t understand why. Asking someone “did you read my initial post at all” smacks of demeaning at best, and definitely not a way I hope to interact with people on here. How should I have asked if you were implying that the platter might be plated? All I have to go off of is your post showing two photos of plated items with similar designs.

Have no idea why you would feel a "built up animosity", but after the information I offered in my first post, which in essence, defended your opinion and acid-testing (not always fool-proof) that the piece was silver, though I'd have no way to actually know - your brusque question regarding my intent in showing those two Indian pieces seemed to indicate that you hadn't read my initial post. And since you didn't acknowledge my suggestion, or the poster's before me, that the piece might be Indian, it again seemed that you hadn't read my first post or hers - but suppose I should have just sensed somehow that you had no interest in opinions on the origin of your item (your "best guess is they are American "pet names" for the couple who got married", is as already suggested, unlikely) - but posting your finds on an open forum without expecting opinions from the other members, whether you like them or not, seems a bit odd to me...

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

From what I can just see, it looks to say "silver" vertically UNDER the "M" ...... the word 'silver' isn't too neatly done either........
