Thank you, and yes it is very wearable. Only problem with wearing it, is that I can't see it.:playful:
    Unusual, isn't it?:)
    Good luck!
    I wouldn't expect it any other way.:joyful:

So, big cross arrived, I tested it and it is indeed silver and a thin plaque of 18k gold :singing:
Cursing was for breaking the C clasp which was soft and flatened:shifty:.
Having to remove the soldered brooch induced some more cursing as heating didn't make the trick:rage: had to cut the findings and file the remains:arghh:.

It looks much happier now. And that Javanese cross... the seller blew it there! I'd love to find some of those "marcasites" too!

A very rare silver cannetille and filigree cross from Dutch Brabant, my neck of the woods. Probably 1840s.
Brabant crosses are usually gold and more grand, and suspended from an even grander jewel. This one is more humble but very pretty. (And affordable.:playful:)

I believe I bought it from a seller in another province, but even if it was sold here, most people wouldn't recognize it. I had a feeling of what it could be, but had to do a lot of research before I could be sure.

Dutch Brabant jewellery is not nearly as well known as that from the Western provinces, and pre-1860 Brabant jewellery is very rare. There was a change around that time, women here abandoned traditional jewellery and began to wear regular fashion jewellery with their regional dress. It is still recognizable as Brabant jewellery though, because it is a bit more ott than regular jewellery of the time.
