It will benefits of some cleaning-polishing, not sure yet if I'll try to remove the added brooch system... I'll post the update, of course!:joyful:
I agree the video of the cleaning process of the Galloway cross was way to short... It is said it took 80h to the restorator to complete:wideyed:.

    Perfectly acceptable.:pompous:
And your surname refers to the type of priest who would have worn an impressive cross like yours.

Gorgeous crosses obb.:) I think you posted the stunning one with the blue stone before?

Some of my crosses, these are Austro-Hungarian.
The one on the left bears a city mark from what is now Slovakia, but is set with Bohemian garnets.
My favourite is the opulently enameled gilded silver one with the blue cab.
The sweet turquoise and pearl one is also gilded silver.
Apologies, bad quality pics. It is now sunny outside, I'll see if I can take better ones.

A Czechoslovakian gilded 900 silver one with Bohemian garnets (also bad pic, shaky hands.:()

Ok, better pic. I posted this one before, my south German 'Tauftaler' or christening coin.
The Tauftaler was given to a child by its godmother, and kept in a special box, along with healing amulets etc, which the owner kept for the rest of his or her life.
Between 1750 and 1850 these Tauftaler were embellished with a silver filigree setting, often shaped like a cross, like mine. The red beads and red enamel are added because red was thought to protect the owner.

I believe we might be jewelry-twins
Although, looking trough your posts, you are far more handy than I could ever be.
I wouldn t call it competing though, I often think about myself as salvaging pieces before they fall into nothingness

61D54F6A-B694-4FF2-B3A1-1226646D61E7.jpeg This might be one of the best pieces I own: 17th century Ortodox pectoral reliquary cross. Guilded silver, its big and heavy, this one, in the middle section there is a reliquary, unopened.
I must admit, I dont wear this one ever, its huge!

Wow, Dessert!:jawdrop: Such an honour to be the caretaker of a special piece like that.

Btw, might I suggest that kyra, you and I are triplets, with our love for brooches and crosses? Coincidentally spread over three countries which form a closed line on Europe's west coast too.;)
