Art Collector: show us your Wilkie! Here's mine with inscription: Plate ____ July 8, 1969 Tribute to Whipple "One Man Show" - Fidelity Arts of Calif. Respectfully Submitted by Joan Wilkie The thing I love about this piece is having 5 vignettes, not just one :). I believe the top three "paintings" are Whipple and the center bottom is Wilkie. Funny thing is, the piece I included (at the top of this thread) I believe (by the rounded whimples) to be Whipple, but includes the nude, which is Wilkie...so many W's! Still very confused why these two artists did work so similar and who was 1st - Whipple's site gives copy on his original inspiration. As a research backup, I had saved my Firefox history since FOREVER, but it must have finally gotten lost through computer bombing out. I didn't record the research I did last August. I'm unable to locate the newspaper article that mentioned Wilkie and Whipple as exhibiting at the same show in Fresno, late 60s... as best I remember it. She is listed as Australian 20th C, so assume she passed and was older than Whipple - he's still selling prints. And some examples of Wilkie's work at auction (last three and next page) http://www.arcadja.com/auctions/en/wilkie_joan/artist/405567/
