I need help with an organization's name

Not a clue. Frustrating.

I found both F A Sherive and Bertha E Vassaw both in the 1912 Providence Rhode Island phone book but I could not find them listed together for anything. Also, what is on the flags on the posts? Anyway I guess that the CE or EC would be something like Church of Evangecal or Evangelical Church. Just my guess of course.

 

I wish we could see what's on the pennant in the front of the boat.

Interesting... The address for F. A. Sherive is the What Cheer Steam Laundry. According to the 1910 census, he was a laundry wagon driver. In 1910, Bertha E. Vassaw was 18 and a bookkeeper at a jewelry company.

Trying to piece this together. I found mention of a Boston C. E. Union, and elsewhere found that the C.E. there stood for Christian Endeavor. Haven't found the Providence branch's name fully listed but it might be Providence Christian Endeavor Union. A Christian Endeavor organization still exists, and the C E in the logo on the upper left of this page looks very similar to the one on your item.

I also saw a snippet indicating that the Boston C.E. Union and the WCTU worked together on some things. So they were probably very similar in their goals.

There is something about the Providence group protesting Sunday baseball. On this page, if you go to the section about the Providence group's highlight, that is where the mention of the C.E. union and the WCTU occurs.

I played with the pennant image to try losing the dot pattern. It looks better but still nothing recognizable

 

Could be later but not by much.

Wikipedia.org says this is the original 1881 Christian Endeavor logo. Looks close enough to me.

Aw, sucks. More like a dog with a bone. By way, do you think the C on the boat's prow represents Christian Endeavor? That would kinda make sense because otherwise the boat is a bit of a non sequitur.
