    I *think* it might be missing a pin on the one side. The pin would sort of work as a hinge, closing things together on the one side, then the other side would close with the latch. If the one side is sort of held together does the latch side work?

    Please try this experiment carefully without bending or putting stress on anything.

    The latch side works yes. i think the pin is not missing but it broke inside of the bracelet. I can see it..

    Ah. Maybe why the bracelet was donated. (Lucky you!)

    Seems like there could be a fix for that pin problem.

    I don't think it's Native American either.

    Hold tight for other responses. More might comment tomorrow.

    Lovely bracelet, Lilit.
    Not ethnic and not Native American. Ethnic bracelets rarely have box clasps, and those figure 8 safety clasps are almost non-existent in ethnic jewellery.

    The figure 8 safety clasp does indicate that it wasn't a cheap piece. Right now the metal looks like brass, but I wonder what it looks like once it is cleaned.

    Oh, so you did.:facepalm::shame:
    If you really want to know you can have it tested by a jeweler. Either way it is a quality bracelet and really nice.

    That looks silver now it’s had the crud extracted. A decent jeweller ought to be able to gently pull that pin out.
