Showing a beautiful dark black heavy glass vase with ornate silver overlay of flowers, bows & swags. Vase is about 7 3/4" tall; 3" across at mouth; 4" across the foot. There appear to be no identifying marks anywhere on the piece - on bottom of base or on the silver. There are no chips or breaks - perfect condition - there is some scratching on bottom of base from shelf use. There are a few small marks in the glass on one side but appear to have probably been made during manufacture. I am curious as to whether this vase could actually be a piece of ROCKWELL Silver Overlay Art Glass from the 1920's/30's? There are a few similar pieces on auction on ebay at the moment and looking at them I started to wonder about this piece. Rockwell apparently had a "shield-like" logo that was etched on the bottom of some pieces - do not see anything like that on this vase. Also the "indented" foot appears to "rise" inside the vase creating a "hump" in the bottom of the piece.... Should also note that I do not know if this vase would be classified as "black amethyst" glass because I put a very bright small flashlight inside the vase and you could not see any glow from inside through the glass - appears to be very thick, dense BLACK!!! Hoping it can actually be identified, whether by shape, size, the silver pattern, or otherwise..... I realize that Rockwell (or some other company) may have only did the actual silver overlay - the glass vase may have been made by anyone....

I just bought this vase through a local on line auction. It was listed as a black ceramic vase with silver overlay and they said it was 10” tall. From the photos that were shown on the auction site, I was pretty sure it was glass NOT ceramic because of the way the light shone off it. And I was right. With BP & tax, I paid $13.67CA for it!!! It would be great to have it identified.... & maybe find out an estimation of what it might actually be worth???
