I stripped down the handle and lid using a fine sandpaper and used a dark wood stain. I followed up that stain with a satin polyurethane, but I really didn&#039;t like the look so I sanded the whole thing down and started again. Second round I did the stain again, but instead of polyurethane I used a wax wood polisher and much better results.
