    Hi everyone, one final update on this one. I went through some experimentation and ended up with something I liked for the handle. I stripped down the handle and lid using a fine sandpaper and used a dark wood stain. I followed up that stain with a satin polyurethane, but I really didn't like the look so I sanded the whole thing down and started again. Second round I did the stain again, but instead of polyurethane I used a wax wood polisher and much better results. Here's a few photos of the result:

    Hi Roshan,

    I did it with the handle attached. I did remove the lid handle as it was only held in by a screw.
