Just like anything else, you just can't be afraid to ask questions and talk to people. I asked on here, I went to a couple of local antique places and brought it up in discussions with anyone that would listen, searched online, etc., learning a little more each time. The body shop was chosen, because I showed the original picture to the guys at the place that change my oil. The decal company was chosen, because of my discussion with the guy at the body shop place, and so on.

Joe2007...Through my research, I have found that in restored condition a cooler like mine (my wife's) would be worth on the order of $3500, and I'm reasonably sure Coke or Pepsi would fetch more than mine. Not that I have any choice in selling it.

Also, your description of the location of use is pretty accurate. It will be on our sunporch. Unfortunately, it will never be used as it was intended, with the basin full of water and drinks immersed in the water. The basin has a lot of small holes, too many to have repaired without major work. So, we likely will sit a cooler down into it, assuming the bottom will hold.

 

It's either that or stuff magazines or craft stuff in it. Nice restoration job, btw.
