Help with the patina

    Hi Makanudo -
    Wow, that's nice!
    FYI, some verdigris can be toxic... If it was applied, I wouldn't worry about it, but some of it looks old, loose and powdery. You might want to wash your hands after handling it, and seal it with Briwax (reversible) just to be on the safe side.

    Mid 20th century brass novelty corkscrew with an applied patina (chemically produced), similar items were made by a wide variety of manufacturers - not really a 'wine key' to this old bartender, but likely alludes to the key to the wine cellar. The Dachshund would also have an applied patina, its design inspired by similar 'Vienna bronze' corkscrews...

    Cheryl (Dragonflywink) is spot on with this. Patina is chemically applied and probably lacquered afterwards.
