    Thanks folks. Once it thaws out here I'll resilver the mirror and mount it. :D

    I'd not resilver it, but it's your choice. In the UK, originality for mirrors matters.

    I confess I prefer the way old mirrors look in old pieces. Some signs of aging are charming, especially if the piece has been restored/refinished. I suppose if it’s the only available mirror, that’s one thing, but myself I’d buy a new, separate mirror for close work and leave the mirror from this piece as-is.

    It didn’t look totally ruined. Is the mirror worse off than it looks in the pictures?

    The silver has flaked off completely in places. I'll look at it again. It would certainly be cheaper and simpler just to put it back. :)

    Agreed. I wouldn't mess with the old mirror unless it's not that old and damaged. If it's just old, leave bad enough alone.
