Morning guys, quick update for you. No further info as yet, and no replies from the guys at ATS. I have contacted a guy in the UK who is somewhat of an expert, so hopefully he will have some info. I will also be visiting a local militaria collector in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed!

Hi everyone. Thought I would post an update for you all: So far, no luck!

The local collector had not seen one before, and could not shed any light. The scientific instruments pro in London had the following to say:

"I have to admit that I have not seen a similar example of this type in my 40 years handling scientific instruments. I would suggest that you send details to the Oxford Museum of the History of Science www.hsm.ox.ac.uk who might well be able to supply you with more information."

So that is what I have done. I have sent off an email to the Oxford museum, and await their response! Ever further down the rabbit hole! :)

I have news! So unfortunately the guys at Oxford were not able to assist, however they suggested their email based forum, which has many members worldwide. So that is what I did. Within a few hours a Dr. Alexi Baker of the Yale Peabody Museum got in touch, and seems to have identified the scope as an antique Diastimeter, most likely manufactured by the Elliott Bros of London in the 1800s.

Below is the link the site, it is in German, but Google translate will help.
