There are no serial numbers. They are pattern numbers and are same on all of the same type pieces.

The same patterns were made for a period of years, sometimes decades. The figural stamp identifies which year it was made.

As Terry said the number is the pattern number of the teapot, or the pattern number for the coffeepot etc.

Most likely the set was not purchased as a complete set, but added to over the years. Might have started with the basic tray, tea pot, sugar and creamer, then purchased or received other items over the years.

As for Replacements, they are a China/Crystal/Silver matching service. It is where you go after searching 10 years for that one plate to finish Grandma's service. By then you are willing to pay the exorbitant price.
It is where I tell my customers to go to get Insurance values as they are the highest price around.

And just for an added piece of info. I was told by a sales rep for one of the sterling companies, that there are no new sterling silver patterns being designed by American companies. And haven't been for many years.

That's Christofle - not chintzy at all. Very well balanced and heavy weight. Expensive to start off with.
    French in origin.
