komokwa The Truth is out there...!

When I hear this it always makes me remember my vase, that I took next door to the Chinese grocer , asking it's age. He said it was 80 to 100 years old...I said...Oh then, it's very old......He laughed & said ...not for the Chinese....for us that's a newer item..!

Well, whatever that little clip is, I LOVE IT!!!! Seems to obviously be carved from a miniature dominoes set with the domino marks on the back.....maybe a scarf clip??? Oh, and WELCOME to the site, Paul!! IMHO that clip is a KEEPER!!!;););)

Hello everybody and thank you so much for all the response!! I am shocked to get so much help so fast. This has been incredibly helpful. Thanks Aquitaine, Its nice to be here. :)

Lucille.b: Thanks for the domino info. Taking a second look the carving looks to be one piece. The thickness is about 1/4". your right, it is hard to see with the photos. if you look at the face there is a metal "strip" that is in between the red beads and the carving. That is actually the setting (bezel?) for the domino and the lip or flange of the domino does not extend much below that. I have attached a couple more photos of the hallmark and some better angles of the dress (not fur :) clip to this message.
Hollyblue: The rabbit ring was great to see!! Hard to describe that feeling when you find something that matches your item but I am sure you know what I mean. :)

Any Jewelry: Just learned that a Hotei is a "Fat Buddha". You learn something new every day.

komo, I've had a similar reaction from American friends when I referred to local 18th C houses as being not that old. ;)
