Clownfarts in hoodies are easily taken advantage of...especially if they have poopie pants dragging. ;)

Hi, there. Books & weapons. An interesting choice. I have books ranging from the late 1700s to right now. I never met a book I didn't like. They weigh a lot and they accumulate. I believe they are an alien species that propagate when we are asleep.

    What kind of weapons?

I'm not entirely sure what kind of weapons yet. I'm interested in melee weapons as well as guns. I already have an old bayonet, but I haven't dated it yet. It was inherited. I remember a gun I saw on pawn stars, I believe it was called a carriage gun. It was basically a triple barrel sawed off shotgun, with a spring loaded bayonet.

As for books I think my oldest is a copy of Les miserables from the mid-late 1800s. I can't say that date with confidence though, as I don't know enough to date it accurately.

The vast majority of the people that deal in antiques professionally are self trained through years of experience not any type of formal education. Go to enough auctions, antique malls, and flea markets and you will begin to see similar items and begin to establish an idea of value. I'm just a collector (with a office job) but I've been attending auctions since my teens and have gained a lot of hard won knowledge through watching items sell either in person or on venues like eBay. There is more information online than ever before, you just need to know where to look.

Welcom!. I joined here this past year, and look forward to learning from every newsletter. I wish I had had King of Things advice about organizing/storing books years ago. Oh well. Another retirement project.
