Hello, My name is Brenda and I am a recent retiree and hobby genealogist on a mission to locate the whereabouts of any Haynes silver goblets. Please see the story below. Through ancestry.com I located several distant relatives who provided clues and one directed me to the 2005 ebay (estate?) sale of my 3rd great-grandmother's goblets. When I posted this story on ebay, I was referred here to seek the help of your "Antiquers".

Does anyone know how to locate a seller/buyer from a 2005 ebay listing or know of these silver goblets? See ebay item information below of Harriet "Hattie" Haynes (Love) goblets dated, 1860.

Here is background information: The story varies slightly but around 1860, Harriet's sister, Adeline Haynes (Given) was living in New Orleans and purchased sets of 6 Silver Goblets for each of her siblings (I estimate there were 7 living Haynes siblings at the time for a total of 42 goblets) however, some believe there were only 1 per sibling. The goblets were engraved with her name, their name and date. She wanted them to be passed down through the generations. She died in 1860, childless and her husband delivered the gifts when he brought her home to Kentucky to be buried. It appears as if the siblings honored their sister's wishes as there is evidence a few have been passed down through the generations and at least one has made it into 2019! The goblet pictured in my profile here is from another sibling's, Emilius Paulus Haynes, line that was also engraved with their names and date. Any information/direction is appreciated.

Info from the ebay sale:

2 Silver Goblets Hammered Engraved 1860 New Orleans

Item number: 7304546708

Seller:

lynnandlu ( 1647)

Positive Feedback: 100%

Member since Jan-04-03 in United States

Winning bid:

US $721.11

Ended:

Mar-06-05 17:34:32 PST

Item location:

Albany, Oregon

United States
