<p>
Two years ago I bought a cute little basket at a yard sale for .50. You know how it is, you see something, it speaks to you and you just know you have a treasure (or you hope and imagine it). Well, I've just had that little basket sitting around in my house for two years. Then I was watching our local tv station and there was going to be a segment about hidden treasures, they asked their viewer to send in pictures and a local auction house would pick from them and tell on air what you have. PERFECT--I sent in two pictures, one of the basket and one of a jug I couldn't identify hoping that I could get an idea of just what I might have. Thinking & hoping that if ANYTHING got picked it would be the jug that I had been trying to find out about for 7 years. I got an email from the studio and they requested more pictures not saying which they picked but to watch the show. WELL< to my surprise they picked the basket. The guy went on to say that it was Native American 1960 Hopi basket worth about $125! I was so excited. BUT I looked up Hopi baskets and it really didn't seem to fit. So I found an Art Gallery on line that specialized in Native American Arts. The curator even does Youtube videos on how to spot originals. So, with my newly found curiosity on this little basket, I sent pictures to the Gallery. To my surprise, he emailed me right back, told me it was a Pima basket c.1920's and has a retail value of $175! Not much more money, but I looked at Pima Baskets, and NOW this MATCHED!! How cool to know that my little .50 find was that old and that the Gallery was interested in it--I write all of this because I just sent it off to the Gallery this morning and I am on cloud NINE! Not so much the money, but that I was right--it was truly a Hidden Treasure!
