*making the bigggg bodyyybuildlerrrr bicep-show-off pose* Wrarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrwrwrwrwrwrwrwwwrrrrrr!
I added it to my watch list... so at least one of your watchers is definitely not going to bid! Just FYI --
Wow! Who knew what a corker this thread would be to bring a whole vineyard of bottled enthusiasm with it! SWEET!
I do SO love you guys! Thanks. I have gotten 2 messages from peeps who are trying to talk me into paying international postage. A third wants to buy just 4 of the corks. Come on, dudes, don't be cheap on me. I'm definitely getting some new names to stalk though. Australia guy wants me to repost with smaller batches... I might... I thought the big batch would bring bird cork bidders to their knees but apparently it got them stewing. Weirdos! Oh wait, I'm one of them.
Ethical/paranoia issue... advice, please... One viewer has ebay-messaged me about a non-ebay sale.... outside ebay confines. Another has my email and has messaged me regarding similar... only wants certain corks. I have one actual bidder, who didn't meet my reserve. A few other variances, as per last post... Soooooooooooo... IF I were to lower myself to considering these offers... how might ebay catch me and kill me???
Many of my older eBay listings has a built in message stating something like -----"There are about 450 similar still items in my collection. If there is something special you are looking for, please drop me a note. If I still have it I will gladly add it to my ongoing eBay listings. eBay never called me on it. From that and actual eBay sales I did attract many repeat buyers. Their non eBay purchases often added up to more than my eBay ones.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, thanks everybody!!!!!!!!! Stuff to think about... I have such fun on ebay... I'd hate to mess it up. I think I'll keep walking the straight-and-narrow. Love y'allses.
if you break up the lot.....charge more for the singles.....those are the ones they need ! Off eBay sales can be just fine if done OFF eBay, thru your own personal email. It's corks....if you were selling watches or gold coins, I'd have other suggestions !
Get them while you can, Gila. I saw 3 different bottles in the store today with "birdie" type label art and was going to buy them to see if the corks had the same. ALL 3 were screw-tops!! US wineries too! The Aussies and Kiwis got the trend started and it appears that west coast wineries have picked it up.
Oh, how sweet you are, Abuela... yes, I know... doggone screwtops! If only I had decided to collect LABELZSZSSSZS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's an American brand, "Screaming Eagle" wine... sells for thousands per bottle... you can't even GET it without waiting for ages... small winery, small output. There was a bottle and cork on ebay a while back for around a hundred. That's my dream-cork.
SHAME, SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gila. You're young enough to STOP selling your corks and keep collecting them. Can you imagine what they will be worth when they are no longer used on wine bottles! That's one helluva opportunity to retire in comfort. The screw tops seem not to have reached New England yet. At least not that I've noticed on any bottles. Even the ones selling for $10 or less. Though the plastic ones are slowly taking over. Darn. no more free Halloween makeup!
