But that doesn't explain why they would be manufactured in Spain.

Ummm - I'm confused. Who said Georg Jensen was manufactured in Spain? Nate found a reference to a Spanish seller identifying 'Jensen & Son' (not a company name associated with Georg Jensen) as maker of a pair of silver-mounted jugs bearing a Barcelona assay office mark (seller says it's .925, but the star quality mark indicates .915 1st standard, used from 1934-88, when their standards changed from .750 and .915 to .800, .925, and .999). I showed a piece like Nate's that mentioned 'Jensen', but only one image and little information was left on the page, but its manufacture clearly unrelated to Georg Jensen.

Regarding the Georg Jensen retail stores, so far as I know they still have them in various large international cities, and their stock wasn't and isn't always only Georg Jensen production, or even precious metal articles. No idea whether there is still a Barcelona store, but it is a definite possibility...

In poking around for 'Jensen & Son' in Barcelona, ran across a set of flatware, modern in design, but not a Georg Jensen pattern (though it bears a resemblance to their 1954 'Cypress' pattern), with Spanish marks - included is a 1963 invoice from the Barcelona Georg Jensen store for the flatware and other items (some other store locations are listed on the left).

The 'Store Finder' on Georg Jensen's site isn't showing any retailers in Spain at present:

And found this on the 'Visit Copenhagen site:

I've seen the Barcelona shop and also seen Jensen silver on sale in Spain. I'm not surprised they opened there: it was a wealthy and prosperous city, cf Catalan control over great swathes of the Med at one time. It lost some ground under Franco but is back to being what it once was and more. Always a centre for design.

Not a cheap purchase...Based on that 1963 receipt, and according to my rough math (a web calculator to factor in the purchasing power from 1963 to present) the relative cost of that purchase in 1963 pesetas (now euros) is a modern day price of €12,621.25

168 pesetas to the pound in 1963, so £339 ish. £100 then is about £2100 now.
