I didn't realize that was Buster Brown in the drawing. According to my books, Raphael Tuck did publish at least one Buster Brown series with Outcault's artwork. Apparently that series is worth a little more, too.

Pat - I checked the publisher info for the other 3 cards on that great site (Thanks again for mentioning it!) I could only find 1 - Whitney of Worcester, MA. published the one with the New Years poem.

I've had Whitney items... I think I sold Valentine's postcard or card by them. The majority of my postcards have been unsigned and by obscure publishers that I never could identify.

I'm not really a collector, although I've held on to some cards that I particularly like. I inherited some of my postcards, and then bought others in bulk to resell.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Thanks, Don -- I had previously posted this in a flurry of Valentine posting on Facebook (I think that is where it was). And we decided that it was Buster Brown, as others found similar cards online.

For example, some of these are:

When I bought it at a local antique mall, I wasn't thinking about Buster Brown, either. I just liked the picture. He is a bit "handsy" in it, isn't he? But she doesn't seem to mind.

    Great work, Fig, on "Dwig"!

With that spelling, he does show up in my postcard books, though A. Blue doesn't. From what's listed in my books, he did work for at least several publishers, including Raphael Tuck.

Wow! Thank you so much, Fig! I had seen the full name elsewhere but not a picture, so I discounted it.

The sig on the card truly looked like DIVIG, but now (in better light) I can finally see the line connecting the first "I" with the "V".
