    Gussied up.(LOL) The coffee pot with the eagle would sell at an even bigger premium in the USA; since it could be billed as an American Eagle it would jack the price up.

    And back to the Irish piece. Just for my education (I never find pieces like this, so just curious... :)) is it being suggested that the three-dimensional decoration on this was added later? It seems like all the Edward Power coffee pots online are similarily ornate -- can someone explain this "clobbering" to me? Thanks!

    I've heard that selling clobbered silver in the UK is problematic. Since it involves extensively reworking the silver, the items cannot be sold as sterling unless they have been re-assayed.

    Nope, doesn't need a re-assay. There's no chemical impact on the silver. The problems is that it's no longer the original design and that puts off the purists.
