My reply to them is so what did you think was going to happen. I thought that is what this site was all about. We have the core group of refugees from the ebay boards. Then we have some folks who found us then decided we weren't a bad group of crazies & decided to stay around for a while. Then on the outside fringe are the folks who just want an answer to their questions & do not have the time or the inclination to stay around.</p><p><br /></p><p>To me this is just fine. Would you really want to hang out on a site where there were 3,000+ folks talking all at the same time? <img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/eek.png" class="mceSmilie" alt="" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/eek.png" class="mceSmilie" alt="" unselectable="on" /> I know I would not be interested in that site even though I grew up in a very large family where when we all got together at our parent's house there would be multiple conversations happening all around you. To an outsider this could be total sensory overload, but to us it was just a normal Sunday & we could keep up with all the different topics. <img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/tongue.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=":p" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/biggrin.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=":D" unselectable="on" /> Even now I find myself skipping quite a few topics even in the categories I am interested in because I have a limited amount of time to spend hanging out.</p><p><br /></p><p>It is all of the above or maybe I am just very crabby right now. <img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/wink.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=";)" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/tongue.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=":p" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/tongue.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=":p" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/tongue.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=":p" unselectable="on" /><img src="styles/default/xenforo/smilies/biggrin.png" class="mceSmilie" alt=":D" unselectable="on" />
</p><p><br /></p>
First let me officially welcome Asian Fever to our forum & also to apologize to them for hijacking their thread.:happy::happy: Your items are very nice, but they are so far out of my knowledge base it can not even be measured. ;):p:D It was just that this was not the first time I had seen different members at different times almost bemoaning the fact that people were coming here asking sometimes not just ID help but help in pricing. In defense of these folks I think most only know TV shows like AR or, at the other end of the spectrum, Storage Wars. On both of these shows prices are given out very freely, some more accurate in the real world than others.:happy: I am sure that some folks who come here think that just because we hang out on a site dealing with antiques, we all know, or we have specific members who know, everything there is to know about certain items. I also see members almost complaining that these people show up to ask a question & after they get their replies we never see them again. Would you really want to hang out on a site where there were 3,000+ folks talking all at the same time?:eek: I know I would not be interested in that site even though I grew up in a very large family where when we all got together at our parent's house there would be multiple conversations happening all around you. To an outsider this could be total sensory overload, but to us it was just a normal Sunday & we could keep up with all the different topics. :p:D Even now I find myself skipping quite a few topics even in the categories I am interested in because I have a limited amount of time to spend hanging out. It is all of the above or maybe I am just very crabby right now. ;):p:p:p:D
