[QUOTE="bercrystal, post: 4579841, member: 88"]I have had this piece hanging around for some time now but have never been able to find one similar. I am actually not sure the 2 pieces started life together even though the jar seems like a good fit.

There is no cut-out to keep a spoon inside the jar & the lid fits tightly.

I was hoping one of our members across the pond might recognize what its intended use was or could at least give me some guesses.

The jar measures 5 3/4" to the top, 4 5/8" to the side edge, 2 5/8" across the top opening & 2 5/8" across the bottom. [QUOTE="bercrystal, post: 4579841, member: 88"]I have had this piece hanging around for some time now but have never been able to find one similar. I am actually not sure the 2 pieces started life together even though the jar seems like a good fit.:confused: There is no cut-out to keep a spoon inside the jar & the lid fits tightly. I was hoping one of our members across the pond might recognize what its intended use was or could at least give me some guesses.:happy: The jar measures 5 3/4" to the top, 4 5/8" to the side edge, 2 5/8" across the top opening & 2 5/8" across the bottom. The stand measures 9 7/8" to the top & is 3" across the opening. It has an impressed EPNS on the bottom but no other marks. The jar is not marked but is well-made with a polished bottom. The stopper has a pontil mark on the bottom & is faceted around the top edges.
