    Interesting...
...but does it kill the spores.
This is really the underlying main concern. :p

The odor never came back so maybe it was a combination of the leather cleaner and the dryer sheets. I neglected to mention that we left the bags in the sun after the initial cleaning to help kill spores so it maybe a combination of all three.

Direct sun may have done it.
Spores like temperatures above 86* but not direct sun.

I've used the dryer sheets on other things that smelled musty without the sun or leather cleaner and it still worked, so I'm not really sure. Her handbags were exceptionally bad and that's why I used those as an example.

    Interesting discussion :)

I can't stand the smell of scented dryer sheets, I use unscented ones. Do you think unscented dryer sheets would work as well?

I've always used scented sheets so I really don't know. I was cleaning out a shelving unit and just found an antique leather wallet that I used dryer sheets on a year ago. No sun treatment or leather cleaner was used on this and it's still free from the musty odor and no hint of the dryer sheet fragrance.

How do you intend to use the smell once you get it?

Well, I bought a small ozone generator and have drilled a hole in a plastic box to allow insertion of the outlet tube. Have used it a few times and it does work on stubborn tobacco and mould odours.

Funny thing, the Hong Kong seller seems to have suddenly stopped selling on Ebay and Amazon!

I too have purchased one (whole room size) - and the first pleasant surprise was the reasonable cost! I was thinking HUNDREDS, but it was actually less than $100, PLUS I got a replacement ceramic plate for half cost. And it is small and compact! I have books larger than this.............

Of course, the second pleasant surprise is how well it works.........youza! some things smell brand new. I haven't actually used it on a whole room as of yet, but will be doing so shortly...............

now, if only it worked on making old folks smell and feel like brand new teenagers..............................

that last sentence originally read "now, if only it worked on making old f@rts smell and feel like new".......but that was too good an opening to just toss out there...................thank goodness I proof read most of the time.............

I have visions of the generator going full blast behind you while you have your head stuck out of the window.

That may sort out the smell, but feeling like a teenager may be a bridge too far ;)
